1st Corinthians 9: 24 - 27 You've all been to the stadium and seen the athlete's race. Everyone runs; one wins. Run to win. All good athletes train hard. They do it for a gold medal that tarnishes and fades. You're after one that's gold eternally. I don't know about you, but I'm running hard for the finish line. I'm giving it everything I've got. No sloppy living for me! I'm staying alert and in top condition. I'm not going to get caught napping, telling everyone else all about it and then missing out myself.
Dear Sisters and Brothers in Christ,
May the sweet and sacred Spirit of Jesus fill you with joy, peace and love!
Sunday Feb. 7th is an important moment for the Journey of Faith community when we celebrate our commitment to a daily walk of discipleship as followers of Jesus. The older I get, the more I realize how quickly the years fly by and time simply runs through our hands. For this reason, we all should seek a way to make every day, every moment of life count! Live life with everything you got!
The greatest way to fully live is to live a life filled with the love of God! To live with the greatest purpose and pursuit: love God, love others and love ourselves; this is the heart of discipleship.
So, here is an invitation for everyone to accept. To get the most out of every day, adopt these disciplines as a framework for your life:
Communally Worship Weekly.
Read the Sacred Story of the Scriptures.
Serve at Journey of Faith and beyond.
Build authentic, spiritual friendships.
Be generous in giving of your time, talent and treasure.
These six disciplines practiced regularly will strengthen your resolve and love for God. No matter what we do, God's love remains the same but there are disciplines and practices we can incorporate which strengthen our love for God.
Let us commit to our walk together, this Journey of Faith and as disciples witness the wonders God can do through us.
Love, Pastor G
