Just Speak; Just Listen!
Hebrews 4: 14 Since, then, we have a great high priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus, the Son of God, let us hold fast to our confession. 15 For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who in every respect has been tested[d] as we are, yet without sin. 16 Let us therefore approach the throne of grace with boldness, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need
"Somebody prayed for me, Had me on their mind, Took the time to pray for me, I'm so glad they prayed, I'm so glad they prayed, I'm so glad they prayed for me."
The first and foremost discipline we are called to practice is daily prayer. Constant prayer. Simply put, prayer is listening for and responding to the movement of the Sacred in the very breath you breathe. Prayer is not complicated just speak, open yourself and be you! The difficult piece is clearing regular time in your schedule to have a dialogue with the Divine.
Nevertheless, please find time. Find a place where you can just be and breathe and engage in a conversation with our Creator. God will move in your heart and your heart will be moved to follow where the Divine leads.
Here's what I love about prayer, everyone can practice it. No matter who you are, or where you are, or what you've done you can, "have a little talk with Jesus." As a pastor, some people believe I have a MORE direct line to God then others. (Sort of like the commissioner in the 1960's Batman tv show). The more righteous, holy, saved, sanctified whatever term you want to employ, the more God will listen to your prayer.
Undoubtedly, there are those who may teach certain "churches," "pastors," "evangelists," "bishops," or "popes" are closer to God's heart and therefore clearer in God's hearing. We need to debunk some of the "church culture" teachings used to manipulate and control people. We do not need a mediator to dialogue between us and God, we have one - the Spirit of Christ!
Your prayers are just as effective and efficient as anyone's prayer. There is not a hierarchy on the prayer ladder which needs to be climbed to get God's ear but through Jesus, God has demonstrated the prayer highway is wide open and God is waiting to hear from ALL of humanity.
Pray. Speak. Listen. Breath. Trust. Then go and be about what you prayed about!
Love, Pastor G
