Love Does

Galatians 5: 22 - 23 22 By contrast, the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, generosity, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against such things.

Dear Beloved,

Greetings in the Spirit of Christ our Lord; the presence of God's unconditional love.

As I mentioned, each week we are going to focus on one of the fruits of God's sacred spirit which is the produce of God in our lives. It is often said when a person meets a child who is quite similar to their parent, "the fruit doesn't fall far from the tree."  In the case of Jesus' disciples, who we are should never be far from the way of God shown in the tree of eternal life - the cross.

The cross is the place of God's love completely exposed and vulnerable to pain, suffering and death.  The cross is God's response to the world's adoration for fear, violence and death. God's love prevailed at the cross.

An important lesson from the cross is to understand where there is love there MUST be sacrifice and where there is no sacrifice there is NO love.  Plain and simple.  How many will say they love their children with the lips but give little or nothing of themselves to strengthen and serve their kids? Or how many will use the word love to see what they can get from somebody instead of looking for the opportunities to give to somebody?

The fruit of love is demonstrated in our willingness to serve!  To give! To bless! To strengthen! To encourage! To empower!

So here is the question I hope you will wrestle with: Where have you witnessed God produce love from your living and you gave of yourself to make the world a better place for somebody else?

The Holy Spirit produces fruit and the greatest is love!

Love, Pastor G
