John 21: 24 This is the disciple who is testifying to these things and has written them, and we know that his testimony is true. 25 But there are also many other things that Jesus did; if every one of them were written down, I suppose that the world itself could not contain the books that would be written.
Dear Beloved Disciple of Jesus Christ,
Christ is Risen! He is risen, indeed! Alleluia! Alleluia! Happy Easter. While for many Easter is but one Sunday of the year; we are invited to live out the promise of Easter every day of our life. Undoubtedly, at this moment the marshmallow peeps, Cadbury cream eggs and bunny decorations are listed at a discounted price. The world has moved on in eager anticipation of the next holiday to celebrate. But as followers of the life of Jesus Christ, our declaration and participation in His promises continues onward.
In fact, if we were to borrow the marketing of the Easter moment and rabbits I would suggest we go with the Energizer bunny. You remember, the pink rabbit that outlasted the competition because where other batteries failed, the Energizer bunny was- "Still going and going and going"? The marketing behind the Energizer bunny was phenomenal, as the pink bunny beating his drum became a cultural symbol.
Well just as the Energizer bunny is still going, guess what also is? God is still writing and working God's story of redemption, salvation and liberation through the life death and resurrection of Jesus Christ! Yes, God's story continues through our lives in the countless ways we share, grow and live out the love of God.
The writer of John's gospel informs the reader that the 21 chapters in his gospel are just a snippet of the many acts and teachings Jesus gave. The book would be too great to record all the saving acts of God through the Holy Spirit. Please consider seeing yourself and the work of the church as living, breathing testimonies about the presence of God too numerous to record but not too many to share with those around you.
Praise be to God, through the power of the resurrection of Christ our Lord, the love of God is still going. The power of God is still going. The work of God we are called to live out is still going. Jesus is risen! He is risen, indeed! Alleluia! Alleluia!
Love, Pastor G
